Global Trading Edge – Anthony’s Story Part 1

Posted on 01. Sep, 2010 by in Billionaire Strategies

I am always one to share ideas and talk about strategies when trading the stock market.  Recently after reading various magazines and blog posts it occurred to me that many traders are private people always keeping to themselves what when and how they trade.  Is it no wonder epople are inqusitive when it comes to trading and learning.

Personally when I first started I had no clear idea on who I was.  Over the coming weeks I will share my life story and how where I am now.  I want to inspire others to realise the true value of who you are is the most important thing in life and always strive to be the best person you can be.  I have relised that in life you need to BE the person you want to be first, DO those things that make you happy and content and then you will surely HAVE the things you desire.  Unfortunately we are conditioned at a young age (no fault of our parents) to walk around in life looking to HAVE, then DO, then BE.  HUH I hear you say!!!!

I am going to share with you my story from humble beginnings to where i am now.

My story starts growing up in suburb of Canberra called Latham.  You see I was born in Sydney and my parents moved to Canberra when I was very young as my father was in the airforce.  Growing up being a red head was never easy.  I attended the local Latham Public Primary School finishing 6th grade in 1983.  From primary school then came High School, Ginninderra High School located a suburb across from Latham in Holt.  On the first day I remember my sister, who was in year 10, saying to me your going to get your head flushed.  Here I was 12 years of age listening to my sister 3 years older than me tell me I was going to get my head flushed.  Great what have i got myself in for.

First day of High School I arrived at the Big G as it was known with spanking new jumper and grey pants which were obviously too short for my growing body.  There I was sitting in the quadrangle (hand ball playing area) listening to smooth David Southern deliver his welcome speach to some 200 of us from various surrounding primary schools.  You know the speaches of welcome we are the greatest school and we do this and that for the community.  Well after the speach had finished we then moved to what is known as our roll call class.  Great just frigging great this is when my life took a spiral downwards.  Here I was 12 years of age red hair clothes too small and absolute beacon amongst feloow students and ripe for the teasing.

As the years went by I found myself with a group of guys who were classed as the NERDS.  Yep we were the geeks always competing on math exams english assignments anything that would prove how smart you were.  This went on for 4 years and during this time my life was hard to comes to terms with.  I literally had no idea what I wanted to do who I was and where I wanted to go.  Many of the guys I went to school with had this path mapped for them following in the fathers or mothers footsteps.  Me I had no idea nor did I have any idea where my future was going to be.

Anyhow I finished year 10 in 1987 and then came the move from High School to what is known in Canberra as college or year 11 and 12.  I was off to a college called Copland (dopeland as it was labelled to many) and again things changed I was now so far inside myself and unsure, scared, lacked heaps of confidence that yet another change was too much to handle.  I would never allow myself to placed in any situation that I would be hassled or teased which meant the cafe / canteen was strictly off limits.  The 2 years I was there I goofed about attempting to complete the hardest subjects of Unit 4 Math, Science and Physics all for what I had no idea.  It was late 1989 and I came down with appendicitus leaving me unable to complete my 12 exams and gioving me the average of an undesirable pool of grades on my year 12 certificate.

Where to from here – I applied to Canberra Uni I think back then it was called Canberra TAFE for accounting.  I wanted to do something with money and finance.  I had never completed a course let alone a subject of money or finance throughout my schooling life however all I wanted to do was do something with money.  As the summer of 1989 was fast approaching my sister returned home from University where she was compelting an Agriculture degree.  A quick chat was all I really had with her she was never much of a conversationlist however she mentioned to me that I should apply for University in Sydney where she was.  That’s when everything changed.  I was listening to all my friends saying what they were doing and most of them had chosen to compelte an IT degree.  Mind you back then IBM had dos which to me was boring to learn and we had a Commodore 64 at home which I used to just play games on – I think you can look at these dinosaur computers at the power house museum as it forms part of the 80s and 90s history.  Well I had other plans I wanted to get a job yep a JOB.  I sat down with my mother and exp0lained how I wwanted a job and all she did was say go to UNI you need an education.

I look back now and can see the pattern already – i was listening to every body else never what was in my heart.

Anyhow I will continue with the next Part shortly.
